Meet Tilly Rose

Hi, I am Tilly

I have lived on Islay since September 2008, so at the time of writing this, 18 years.

I have been in the whisky industry since I was 16, doing my work experience in Bruichladdich Distillery and then going on to work there for just under a year.

Due to a change in circumstances, I dropped out of my first university course in Glasgow and began my job at Bunnahabhain Distillery.

I think it is safe to say that for everyone who knows me, Bunnahabhain is where I found my love of whisky. The people, the passion, the stories, everything about the spirit engulfed me in and turned me into who I am today.

I am now back at University, studying in Edinburgh, so get ready for a LOT of city talk!

“I am in a place in my life that most women in their 20s have to fight to be in. Having been in the industry since such a young age, I am grateful to have connections throughout.”

“Islay made me who I am; it is the most incredible place to have your childhood revolve around.”

Get to know Me

  • For me, it is a white wine; I am a big fan of New Zealand wine. A nice cold glass (or bottle) is normally my go-to!

I know I’m cheating on whisky, but I won’t lie, it isn’t my go-to tipple!

  • Glen Coe, without hesitation.

I have so many incredible memories over there, it’s a place that is just unbeatable for me!

  • My Warehouse Nine experiences are still to this day are some of my fondest moments in both my professional and personal life. Hosting Warehouse Nines is something I miss, honestly, daily. I am so jealous every time people tell me they are heading over to Islay, I haven't been home for a while and I am definitely missing the salty fresh air!

  • What can I say, I love to talk, I love to write, and I love to be able to babble on about things I care about! This site started as an Instagram account I used for work, and now it has morphed into this, which I cant lie is something I am very proud of and I have worked really hard to create.
